SAN BRUNO BEACON RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE TUESDAY NOVEMBER 6, 2007 ELECTION
The San Bruno Beacon makes the following recommendations: CITY OF SAN BRUNO MEASURE F: Comment: Everybody loses if Measure F wins. We join the San Mateo County Times and recommend that San Bruno's voters VOTE NO ON MEASURE F. CITY OF SAN BRUNO MAYOR: Comment: Who cares? With Franzella as the only candidate for Mayor, San Bruno residents get more of the same when he wins; bad government, skyrocketing rates and fees on City sponsored services, and budget deficits. Everybody is too busy and nobody cares enough to run for Mayor, so apathy keeps Franzella in office for another two years. CITY OF SAN BRUNO CITY COUNCIL: Comment: Miguel Araujo will help San Bruno start the long road back to balanced budgets and a City government that represents the interests of San Bruno's residents and not the narrow, self serving special interest groups busy gorging themselves on taxpayer money while San Bruno's residents continue to be hit with ever higher taxes and bigger City budget deficits. SAN BRUNO PARK SCHOOL DISTRICT, MEMBERS, GOVERNING BOARD: Comment: In our opinion, what the San Bruno Park School District really needs is a new Superintendent. We think that the San Bruno Park School District is a troubled entity buried in chaos. There are 4 people running for the San Bruno Park School District Board. All of them have been involved in School Board politics for years. None of them brings any new ideas or a fresh perspective to the troubled, dysfunctional San Bruno Park School District. Three of the candidates, Zelnick, Kiely, and Martinez, have been or are, Members of the Board. They are part of the problem. SAN MATEO UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT, MEMBERS, GOVERNING BOARD: Comment: The San Mateo Union High School District (SMUHSD) is a disaster. Of course, there is hope for the SMUHSD now that there is a new SMUHSD Superintendent and we may get some new Board Members. The Beacon is not endorsing Pine and Rogers because we think they are spectacular candidates. They aren't. We just think that they couldn't do any worse than the current crop of Board Members and might actually help. Or not. Well, that covers it for this election. Stay tuned as we continue to bring you more news from San Bruno.
