DEMOCRAT CONTROLLED STATE LEGISLATURE DRIVING CALIFORNIA INTO BANKRUPTCY. CALIFORNIA SALES TAX REVENUES DOWN IN CALIFORNIA AFTER STATE LEGISLATURE RAISES SALES TAX RATES.

In a November 30 news release, the California State Board of Equalization announced that analysis of actual cash receipts from the third quarter of 2009 showed an overall decline of 14.91%, taking into account the newly imposed 1% sales tax increase.

Union members who lose their jobs as a result of union leaders pricing their labor out of the job market have been misled, used, and abused by their unions. These formerly employed dues paying union members have, in effect, paid their union to lose their job for them.

CALIFORNIA PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM (CalPERS) REPORTS HUGE LOSSES FOR FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2009

This story definitely falls into the why am I not surprised category. In a July 22, 2009 SF Chronicle story titled, State's giant pension funds post big losses, it was reported that CalPERS lost "$56.2 billion in the 12 months that ended June 30, ending the fiscal year with $180.9 billion in assets". It was also reported that the The California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS) lost $43.4 billion in the 12 months that ended June 30, ending the fiscal year with $118.8 billion in assets.
